On March 28th, the 19th National Conference on Nuclear Physics and the 15th Representative Assembly of Members opened ceremoniously in Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province. The National Conference on Nuclear Physics is the largest, highest-level, and most influential comprehensive academic event in China's nuclear physics community. More than 600 people, including relevant leaders from Party committees and governments at all levels in Jiangxi Province, as well as experts and nuclear science and technology workers from more than 90 universities and over 20 research institutes across the country, gathered to discuss the frontier development of nuclear physics.

At the opening ceremony, the highly anticipated awarding ceremony for the "9th Hu Jimin Education and Science Award" was held as scheduled. A total of seven young talents stood out this time, and Professor Ke Weiyao from our college was among them, receiving this prestigious honor.

The "Hu Jimin Education and Science Award" was jointly established by the Hu Jimin Foundation of Peking University and the Chinese Institute of Nuclear Physics in 1999. It aims to commemorate Mr. Hu Jimin, a renowned nuclear physicist and educator in China, and to honor his outstanding contributions to pioneering China's nuclear physics, nuclear fusion science, and educational undertakings. The award encourages young scientific and educational workers and graduate students who make significant contributions to basic and applied research in the development of China's nuclear physics and nuclear fusion undertakings. In 2000, the review committee awarded the first "Hu Jimin Education and Science Award". From the second edition (2004) onwards, the award is selected every three years, in synchronization with the National Nuclear Physics Conference.

It is noteworthy that our institute has performed impressively in this award selection. In 2023, Professor Ding Hengtong of our institute was honored with the 8th Hu Jimin Education and Science Award. The recent award received by Professor Ke Weiyao underscores our institute's profound accumulation and outstanding strength in educational and scientific research in the field of nuclear physics. It also reflects the high recognition of our industry for the achievements in cultivating young talents in our institute.

Weiyao Ke, a professor at the School of Physics Science and Technology, Central China Normal University, and a national high-level talent, was awarded the Hu Jimin Education Science Award in 2026. He primarily engages in theoretical research on high-energy nuclear physics, focusing on the effects of QCD matter in electron-heavy ion collisions and high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. He has conducted postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the United States. Currently, he is funded by the National Talent Program.
