I will present work done with my PhD supervisor, Dr. Michael Strickland, and our collaborators. I will discuss how we obtain suppression of heavy quarkonium states in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) using the real-time quantum field theory (QFT) and open quantum system (OQS) approach. We relax the assumption of adiabatic approximation by solving the 3D Schrodinger equation in real time to compute quarkonium suppression dynamically. We introduce a framework called Heavy Quarkonium Quantum Dynamics (HQQD) which can be used to compute the dynamical suppression of heavy quarkonia propagating in the QGP using real-time in- medium quantum evolution. In the pRQCD and OQS approach, we derive and numerically solve a Lindblad-type evolution equation without jumps and with jumps that are accurate to next-to-leading order (NLO) in the binding energy over temperature (E/T).
