Professors Wang Xinnian and Jia Ya Selected for the "2024 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" List
Recently, Elsevier, a global information analytics company, released its "2024 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" list. Professors Wang Xinnian and Jia Ya from our institute were selected for inclusion.
A total of 6,388 scholars made the list this year, representing 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions, covering 10 disciplines designated by the Ministry of Education and 83 first-level academic subjects. The list is based on data from Scopus, the globally leading citation and indexing database, and uses a methodology developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. It analyzes and identifies Chinese scholars at various stages of their research careers from multiple dimensions, making data on their disciplinary affiliations and academic performance more intuitive and systematic.
Wang Xinnian, Boya Chair Professor and doctoral advisor, is the recipient of the 2024 Humboldt Research Award. He has made significant contributions to understanding the properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). His primary research areas include the theoretical and phenomenological study of QGP in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. According to Scopus data, from 1996 to 2025, Professor Wang published 335 papers, cited by 8,597 documents, with a total of 21,049 citations. In 2024, his citation count peaked at 1,938.

Jia Ya, Professor and doctoral advisor, obtained his Ph.D. in Science in 1988. He has published over 100 papers in prestigious journals such as Physical Review Letters, Physical Review Research, Physical Review A, and Physical Review E. His current research interests include molecular biophysics, bioinformatics, nonlinear statistical physics, and complex systems dynamics. According to Scopus, from 1995 to 2025, Professor Jia published 179 papers, cited by 4,834 documents, with a total of 7,447 citations. In 2024, his citation count peaked at 978.
