IOPP FORUM: Tania Robens 15:40, Nov.22,2016

Time: 15:40, Nov. 22

Place: 9409

Speaker: Tania Robens (Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics, TU Dresden, Germany)

Abstract:The discovery of the Higgs boson by the LHC experiments in 2012, leading to the Nobel prize in 2013, has provided the last building block of the Standard Model of particle physics. In my talk, I will discuss which challenges lie ahead in particle physics phenomenology after this discovery. I will mention both searches for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM), as well as precision calculations for SM processes. I will discuss in detail two specific BSM scenarios that enhance the scalar sector of the Standard Model, and discuss current bounds as well as discovery prospects at the LHC.
